go? How much longer will he stay inside the ring before he retires and moves
on to activities outside the ring?” Then he fought a Thai champion in an
event in Morocco on 13-07-1997. His name was Namkhabuan but was also called
"Ring Genius". He was from the same camp as Nangpon. The "Ring Genius" was
regarded as one of the finest all-rounders ever to enter a Muay Thai ring.
He was extraordinarily fast as well as strong and he displayed magnificent
evasive tactics. But what set Namkhabuan above the rest was his fierce
determination. He was born in the drought stricken Esarn countryside of
Northeastern Thailand, where he won a reputation for his strong knee
strikes. But to become a champion in the big city, he had to change his
style, gradually incorporating all the attacking strikes. |
